Canada Day 2010

I’m a Canadian woman. I “donated” my eggs seven years ago (I really did get paid). I am super curious about other donors’ experiences. I have found a complete and utter lack of donor voices in the current conversation about the infertility industry and that doesn’t make any sense to me. I hope that this blog can function to connect us as a community.

      Hi Illan,

I’m not sure where best to direct you to be honest. I found listings for donors wanted on craigslist and at u of T. There are many different middlemen companies that are sort of like brokers. They hook the egg donor up with the family. You could start there- I know a lot of American companies advertise in Canada.

I have had many conversations with professionals who are concerned that egg donation attracts a certain type of young woman (who might be hard up for cash…). I certainly don’t feel like I was used or victimized in anyway but I do encourage you to really think about why you want to do this and to look into it and research the best way you can.

I am in contact with a lawyer who does open donations for example, as opposed to completely anonymous. there are many different options and routes one could take!

I hope you keep me updated!
